The ‘Ballance House’ Daffodil
On Sunday 27th October 2019 the newly-registered ‘Ballance House’ daffodil was launched. It was bred by the Northern Ireland Daffodil Group President, Brian Duncan and presented to UNZT in recognition of the legacy of John Ballance.
Technical Details
This RHS registered bulb is classified as: Div. 1Y-Y (which means that it is a Yellow trumpet ie, Division 1 = trumpet daffodils where the corona is at least as long as the perianth segments (petals). The first Y means it has yellow petals and the second Y means the corona/trumpet) is also yellow. Extracts from seedling notebook:
2015 – Tall, good pose, deep golden yellow, smooth texture.
2016 – Very smooth, improved ‘Goldfinger’. Lovely deep gold, nicely flanged trumpet. Strong vigorous plant.
2017 – Lovely form and colour. Great trumpet roll.
Diameter - 108mm.Perianth length - 42mm. Trumpet length - 45mm
