+ When is the House available to book for weddings?

You can book your wedding event all year round. Available from 9am to 6pm in summertime, and 9am - 4pm in wintertime. Booking your Wedding will give you exclusive access to the property that day.

+ Can I arrange to view the House before booking?

We would be pleased to show you around The Ballance House. Please Contact Us to arrange a visit.

+ Can I hold a Rehearsal

Yes, you are invited to arrange a Rehearsal.

+ Do I organise my own clergy?

Yes please.

+ Can I book a civil wedding ceremony?

Unfortunately no, The Ballance House is not registered for civil wedding ceremonies.

+ What is the maximum number of people I can have?

Our Parlour can accommodate around 10 people, the Cottage Room can seat up to 60, the Tea Barn can seat up to 60, and our large Lawn is also available in summer.

+ What catering is available?

Whilst The Ballance House does not organise catering for Weddings and Ceremonies, we can provide you with external catering contacts. There are kitchen facilities in the tea barn if you wish to cater for yourselves.

+ Is there disabled access?

Yes, there is level access into the House where the accessible toilet is situated and into the Tea Barn.

+ Can I organise my own decorations?

Yes please. Flowers and any other decorations should be arranged privately and set up at an arranged time.

+ What arrangements are in place for alcohol and music?

As The Ballance House is on private property, we ask that alcohol consumption is limited to toasts and that music is kept as subtle and background.

+ If I wish to have my Wedding outside, what if the weather is poor?

We can provide red gazebos to give you protection from the weather. Our hard-standing courtyard is an alternative to the grass. Outdoor tables and chairs are available.

+ What is the Room Hire cost?

• A private ceremony held in our Parlour or on the Lawn, with use of the Cottage Room & Tea Barn is £350.

• The Cottage Room or Tea Barn can be hired separately for £150 half day, or £200 full day. Use of both Rooms is £200 for a half day and £300 for a full day.

• Photographs only occasion, £150 (for 2 hours access to the property)

(Note that bookings do not include access to the Exhibition area)

+ Is there a deposit payable?

A £100 deposit is required at time of booking and can be refunded up to 2 weeks prior to your event. This will be deducted from your bill if no damage is incurred.

+ Is there car parking available?

We have car parking available for approximately 30 cars and a few small coaches. The car park is very close to the House.

+ What else do I need to know?

• We would request that no confetti is thrown.
• Children should be supervised at all times.
• The property should be left in a tidy condition. The Tea Barn should be left clean with your rubbish bagged and binned or removed. If you wish to hire a cleaner, this can be arranged.
• Government guidance or restrictions at the time of booking will be followed with regard to gatherings and the number of people allowable.

We take bookings for private ceremonies such as Weddings, Proposals, Blessings, Vow Renewals, Engagements, Photography, Baby showers, Baby-naming Ceremonies and Family Birthday Parties. Contact Us if you would like to discuss your event.
